René Nebesky-Wojkowitz Object Collections

The object collection that René Nebesky-Wojkowitz purchased for the Weltmuseum Wien consists of over one tousand art, ritual and everyday objects from India (mainly from West Bengal and Sikkim), Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal, including a handful of well-preserved textile scroll paintings, numerous ritual vessels and tools, some ceremonial robes, many manuscripts and block prints, precious jewellery, different musical instruments, Himalaya costumes and shawls, and a large variety of agricultural and household utensils as well as samples of herbs, plants and foods.
