Description
Among the Dumi Rai, the largely female sakela or bhume deities manifest in stones that are kept in the ground at a special spot (sakela than) during the year and only dug out during the sakela ritual. Here one of the stones that can only be touched by specially designates ritual functionaries is shown to the ritual participants at this occasion.
