Title
A chicken is prepared as an offering to the sakela deity
Description
During the sakela or bhume ritual a number of chicken and cocks are offered to the sakela deities. Each of them is asked with a special technique whether it agrees to be chosen as sacrificial animal: Drops of local brandy are dripped on its head by the ritual specialist conducting the ritual. If the animal shakes the brandy off its head it signals agreement to being offered, which is not understood automatically.
