View onto Chichinga village
Description
The Chamling Rai inhabitants of the region consider Chichinga village the place where Kakcilipu (the mythological hero of the Rai as he is called by the Dumi Rai) lived after having settles with his future wife. Villagers can point out his grave and his fields at the opposite slope seen in the backgound, which, however, have been destroyed by a landslide. The hill in the front is the place where, according to the mythological story, the cock arrived to invite Toma and Khema, Kakcilipu's sisters, to his marriage. Many animals had been sent before, but the sisters believed someone plays a trick on them as they thought their brother to be dead. Only the cock succeeded in luring them into the village.
